Description

Imamzadeh Abdullah is located in the southern part of Tehran city. It is not only the tomb of the late Abdullah, but also the resting place of other famous individuals such as Nima Youshij, Pourmomtaz, the Mofakham family, Sardar Sharafi Badr, the poet Hassan Vahidi Dastgerdi, Mehdi Barkeshli, Emad al-Ketab, and others. Burial in the graves of this Imamzadeh has been prohibited since the 1970s, unless the grave was purchased in advance. The building and internal architecture of the shrine date back to the Safavid era, while the exterior is a combination of Qajar and Pahlavi (first and second) architectural styles. This Imamzadeh has a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere and was added to the list of important national heritage sites in May 1999 (Ordibehesht 1378 in the Iranian calendar).
