The forests of the Jahannama region are of the Hyrcanian type and have been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This area has great ecological value because diverse and rare species of plants and animals live there. The Jahannama forests are extremely pristine and untouched. The unique conditions of the region have made it a suitable habitat for tigers as well. The Mazandaran tiger, which is extinct, still gives hope that perhaps in the Jahannama region, deep within its pristine forests, a tiger might reside. The area covers about 40,000 hectares and there is also a cave with the same name, Jahannama, located there.
