Salt lakes are among the most amazing natural elements that form due to intense evaporation and abundant salt deposits in water sources. Iran, due to its dry and desert climate, hosts many of these lakes, among which one of the tourist attractions of Qom is the Hoz-e Soltan Lake. Hoz-e Soltan Lake, also known as the "Shahi Lake," with an approximate area of 240 square kilometers, is located south of the Alborz mountain range. The size and shape of the lake vary according to water inflow and rainfall in different seasons; thus, the water level of the lake continuously fluctuates. This lake consists of two separate basins. The western basin is called "Hoz-e Soltan" and the eastern basin is called "Hoz-e Mareh," connected by a water channel. In wet seasons, the Mareh basin fills first, and then its excess water flows into Hoz-e Soltan.
