Description

The Ardestan Grand Mosque, belonging to the Seljuk period and standing out among the pomegranate gardens of the Ardestani people, is considered one of the most magnificent mosques on the edge of the central desert of Iran with unique architecture. This structure is recognized as the second four-iwan mosque and the first two-story mosque in the Islamic world, built in various periods. Moreover, its original building was a fire temple or shrine that was converted into a mosque.

The Ardestan Grand Mosque is the first two-story mosque in the Islamic world.

The mentioned mosque is still used as a place for worship, Friday prayers, congregational prayers, religious holidays, and Ashura mourning ceremonies.
