The Golpayegan Grand Mosque is one of the tourist attractions that locals also call the Seljuk Mosque. This historical building is one of the important mosques of the Seljuk era. The Seljuks, inspired by the Golpayegan Grand Mosque, built similar but larger mosques in other cities of Iran. It is said that the initial construction date of the mosque, based on the name on the dome inscription, is attributed to the years 498 to 512, during the reign of Abu Shuja Muhammad ibn Malikshah Seljuk.
However, later archaeologists found inscriptions under the floor of the prayer hall. They realized that the mosque was built by order of Abu Nasr Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Baba Abdulmalik.
