Hezar Jarib Protected Area

Whenever you see the phrase protected after the name of an area, be sure that the area has valuable natural resources and specific animal and plant species. Hezar Jarib is one of the tourist attractions of Behshahr in Mazandaran, a region with vegetation, water-rich valleys, summer pastures, and rare animals throughout. Hezar Jarib, with an area of 6195 hectares, is located in a mountainous region and has a semi-temperate and humid climate. One of the main reasons Hezar Jarib became a protected area is that it is home to rare living creatures such as:

Meral (red deer or wild ox)

Shoka (the smallest Iranian deer)

Goat

Pazen (wild goat)

Leopard

Brown bear

Boar

Common fox

Jackal

Teshi (a type of rodent with a body covered in spines)

Wildcat (small feline)

Forest marten

Rudak

Partridge

Tiho (a type of partridge)

Touka (a type of bird from the sparrow family)

Delijeh (a bird of prey from the falcon genus)

Sargapeh (a type of relatively large bird of prey with broad wings and a short tail)

Oak, boxwood, mamrez, beech, anjeli, barberry, wild medlar, wild apple, and wild plum are trees growing in the Hezar Jarib area. In this region, well-known and useful medicinal plants such as borage and thyme are also found. Hezar Jarib has historically had two parts named Chahardangeh and Dodangeh, and the Chahardangeh part includes the following sections:
