Description

National Jewelry Museum, a sight full of wonder

The National Jewelry Museum is considered one of Tehran's dazzling tourist attractions. You may remember from history books the names of the Koh-i-Noor and Darya-ye Noor diamonds; the National Jewelry Museum is the place where these diamonds are kept, although the Koh-i-Noor diamond is currently on the British Queen's crown. Although all Iranian kingdoms always had a large treasury of gold and jewels, these jewels were not gathered in one place until the Safavid era.

The collection and even purchase of jewels from near and far countries began during the Safavid period and continued during the Qajar era. Many of these jewels were mounted on the famous Jeweled Globe, the Kiani Crown, and the Naderi Throne and were kept in the Golestan Palace. Later, Reza Shah moved the royal jewels to the basement of the Marble Palace. After the National Bank building was prepared, its basement became the host of the national jewels. In the National Jewelry Museum, besides famous jewels like the Darya-ye Noor diamond, Naderi helmet, Farah Pahlavi's crown, Kiani crown, Peacock Throne, and Naderi throne, many precious stones and pearls are displayed. For this reason, this museum is considered one of the best places to visit in Tehran for jewelry lovers.
