Description

Coal Bridge of Chalus

In the north of the country, there is a river that starts from the west of Mazandaran, in the Kandovan heights, and in the rough mountain bed, it hosts trout, whitefish, and salmon. Finally, after traveling more than seventy kilometers, this river flows from the city of Chalus into the Caspian Sea, and for this reason, it is called the Chalus River. In the year 1307 of the Solar Hijri calendar, 17 kilometers along the Kandovan road, between the city of Chalus and Marzan Abad, the Coal Bridge was built by Reza Shah Pahlavi to allow faster and safer passage. Now, after all these years, the Coal Bridge of Chalus not only serves transportation purposes but, thanks to its age, beautiful scenery, and the extraordinary view it creates over the river, it is considered one of the most special tourist attractions of Chalus.
