The Metallic Hydrotherapy Complex, located in the village of Motalali, a part of Kaleybar County in East Azerbaijan Province, is recognized as the largest hydrotherapy complex in the country. This complex was built in 2013 with private investment on a land area of 12,870 square meters and attracted many domestic and international tourists by offering various facilities. Among the amenities of this complex are indoor pools with retractable roofs for men and women, sauna and jacuzzi, sports and bodybuilding halls, equipped changing rooms, parking, prayer room, commercial centers, restaurant, buffet, coffee shop, and children's playground.
Historical texts about the city of Kaleybar mention that about 800 years ago there was a large river in the lower part of the city whose water treated the most chronic fevers. Historians believe that this large river mentioned is the current Motalali spring, which has similar characteristics. However, the spring is much older than imagined, and historians and geologists date the Motalali hot spring to the "Middle Pliocene" period, about 3.5 million years ago. The temperature of the warm waters of this complex is about 68 degrees Celsius, and the water in these pools has multiple therapeutic properties beneficial for relieving muscle and joint pain, reducing stress, and increasing relaxation. It is noteworthy that about 13 types of minerals, including phosphorus, sulfur, glycerin, sodium, and sodium nitrate, are transferred to the complex through cement pipes.
