Khajavi Kermani Tomb Shiraz

You have surely heard the name Khajavi Kermani; an 8th-century poet who expressed mystical themes in delightful ghazals. The tomb of this poet, built in 1936 in Tang-e Allah Akbar, Shiraz, overlooks the Quran Gate, and the flow of the Ruknabad spring nearby creates a pleasant atmosphere.

The tomb of Khajavi Kermani, one of our country's registered national monuments, is located outdoors. According to an old custom of placing two stones at the top and bottom of poets' and mystics' graves, two columns can be seen at the top and bottom of the tomb. In 1958, a room was built on the northern side of the tomb complex, which now serves as a cultural center. On the front of this room, two ghazals by Khajavi are inscribed in Nastaliq script on tiles.

Near Khajavi's tomb, there are three caves, one of which was formerly a place of worship and asceticism for ascetics and sheikhs, where Khajavi Kermani also spent some time in worship. Another cave is the burial place of Khwaja Emad al-Din Mahmoud, the famous minister of Shah Sheikh Abu Ishaq Injavi. Inside and around these caves, bas-reliefs related to Iranian myths, Fath-Ali Shah and his sons, and historical events can be seen. Two half-columns in the style of Zand dynasty columns are also among the other sights of this attraction. Additionally, during renovations in 1991, a statue of Khajavi Kermani was added to the tomb area.
