The tomb of Mokhtum Qoli Faraghi, a renowned Turkmen poet and mystic, passed away in 1169 Solar Hijri and was buried next to his father, Dowlat Mohammad Azadi, at this site. The construction of the tomb began in the 1370s Solar Hijri and was inaugurated in 1378 with the presence of Iranian and Turkmenistan officials.
This tomb, designed by engineer Anah Mohammad Niazi, symbolizes the cultural connection between Iran and Turkmenistan and was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on 26 Esfand 1386 with registration number 22251. The tomb building is dome-shaped with four tall columns, representing the grandeur and magnificence of Mokhtum Qoli Faraghi's personality. Around the tomb, an area is dedicated to holding cultural and literary ceremonies, which on special occasions hosts enthusiasts of Turkmen Sahra culture and literature.
