The Qarluja Stone Tower, also known as Qeshlaq Qarluja, is another historical monument in Kaleybar County, East Azerbaijan Province, located in the village of Qarluja, beside the Aras River and on the Khomarlu-Aslanduz route. This short octagonal tower is made of ordinary carved stones and dates back to the 7th and 8th centuries AH. Repairs were also made during the Safavid era, and we owe the restoration and reconstruction of this tower to them.
Each side of this stone tower is 1.75 meters long, and its remaining height is about 5 meters. Beneath this tower, there is a crypt that is likely the tomb of one of the Mongol Ilkhanate nobles. This valuable monument was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on March 21, 1968, with registration number 799. To access the Qarluja Stone Tower, you can use the Khomarlu to Aslanduz road. It should be noted that visiting this historical attraction is free, and the recommended time to fully visit it is between 1 to 2 hours.
