Imamzadeh Soltan Ali Ali ibn Imam Muhammad Baqir Shrine
Hazrat Ali ibn Imam Muhammad Baqir, peace be upon him, in the year 116 AH fought against the disbelief of his time with his companions and after many acts of bravery was finally martyred on the 27th of Jumada al-Thani in the Aznavah valley with his loyal companions. His blessed head was severed from his body and sent to the unjust ruler of the time in the city of Qazvin, and his pure body was buried in Mashhad Ardehal.
The carpet washing ceremony is held once a year on the closest Friday to the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Imamzadeh. Weeks before the carpet washing day, people from nearby towns and villages gradually enter the Ardehal area. Usually, from the Friday before the carpet washing, town criers announce the Friday gathering and the flood of people rushes more intensely towards Mashhad Ardehal until on the carpet washing Friday, the crowd reaches its peak.
