Gharghab Gorge Golpayegan

Gharghab Gorge, with its combination of history and nature, has become one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Isfahan for me. This gorge is located in the village of Gharghab. It is clear that the gorge took its name from this village, but they say there is a legend behind the naming of this village! The story goes that once a king was passing through this area with his army. Suddenly, the king noticed something like a minaret. Therefore, he ordered the dam of the area to be opened to drain the water. When the water was drained, they saw the houses of the villagers. Since then, the village was named Gharghab, meaning submerged in water.

The petroglyphs of Gharghab Gorge are among the most famous sights of Golpayegan and the most famous sights of Gharghab Golpayegan. Of course, in this village, there are other historical artifacts such as historical castles and a historical bathhouse. The age of the reliefs and inscriptions of this village is estimated from 7000 years ago to the 8th century AH. The stone inscriptions of Gharghab Gorge are the most important sights of Golpayegan. These inscriptions include depictions of animals such as the wild goat.
