Abdussalam ibn Saleh ibn Suleiman, known as Khwaja Abasalt, was born in the year 160 AH in Medina. He was one of the scholars, narrators, and hadith transmitters of his time. The reason for his fame as Khwaja Abasalt Heravi is that his honorable ancestor was in Herat, Khorasan during his time.
Khwaja Abasalt was one of the servants of Imam Reza (AS) in his time. He is also among those who narrated the manner of Imam Reza's martyrdom at the hands of the Abbasid Caliph Ma'mun in the book “Wafah Arda.” Khwaja Abasalt came to Khorasan during Imam Reza's migration from Medina and was one of the special servants and attendants of the Imam. This feature has led travelers intending to go to the holy Mashhad to visit his tomb along the way and recite Fatiha at his grave. Khwaja Abasalt passed away in the year 232 AH after 33 years of service beside Imam Reza (AS).
