One way to understand the history of an area is to examine the trees and plants of that environment. Plants, due to their conditions, are usually stable and provide a good way to guess the background of an area. Among the plants of the Qeshm region, there is a sturdy and large tree of which only a few specimens exist worldwide. The Lor tree or Temple Fig is the legendary plant whose growth and reproduction method is distinct from all other plants in the world. Its seeds are not planted but transferred from one tree to another through bird droppings. The Lor tree usually grows in warm and humid areas, and the southern cities of Iran, especially the Persian Gulf islands, are the best places for its growth and reproduction.
This tree grows in the Dargahan area of Qeshm County and has now become one of Qeshm's tourist attractions. Get directions.
