Description

The largest dam in Hamadan province, Kalan Dam, is one of the tourist attractions of Malayer. The water of Kalan Dam originates from the mountainous areas of Lorestan. The main purpose of building Kalan Dam was to supply drinking water to the city of Malayer, provide agricultural water for villages, and prevent flooding and water overflow. The name of Kalan Dam, one of the tourist attractions of Malayer, comes from the existence of a village named Kalan and the Kalan river upstream of the dam. Other names of Kalan Dam in Malayer are Kolan Dam and Kolon Dam. Besides supplying water to Malayer, this dam has become a recreational place for tourists and local people.
