Tanka Castle dates back to the 5th century AH. This castle is located in Tonekabon County, Baladeh District, Qaleh Gardan village, and on the southern hill of Abshar Coffee House. This historical monument was registered nationally in Esfand 1386. Tanka Castle of Tonekabon is recognized as a symbol of Tonekabon County and its location overlooks the Tonekabon plain and the Do Hezar valley completely. Interestingly, the name Tonekabon means "at the foot of Tanka Castle." So perhaps Tonekabon County got its name from this castle.
