Markouh Castle Talarsar Tonekabon

One of the important features of Markouh Castle is its great similarity to Babak Castle. This castle has an incredibly beautiful view and is one of the strategic castles of Tonekabon from which you can see the city of Tonekabon and the sea. Next to Markouh Castle, there are several hot springs which are one of the main reasons for visiting the castle and its surroundings. It was built in the 3rd Islamic century and besides the 3rd century, it was also used in the 6th and 7th centuries. The name of the castle is taken from its location. This castle is built on a mountain called Markouh. Some locals consider this mountain sacred and relate its story to the era of Mithra or Mehr worship. Others say that this area once housed a temple related to the Mithraic religion.
