The grand mosques, considered the largest mosque of each city, besides their religious importance, also played an important role in managing the social and cultural affairs of the cities. The Grand Mosque of Zavareh, which is one of the oldest mosques in Isfahan province, has had great significance in the history of the city of Zavareh. The Grand Mosque of Zavareh, known as the Friday Mosque, is referred to as the first four-iwan grand mosque in the history of the Islamic world. The Grand Mosque of Zavareh was registered as a national heritage site of Iran on March 2, 1937, with registration number 283.
