Description

National Museum, a testament to the authenticity of this land

The National Museum of Iran is one of the tourist attractions in Tehran, consisting of two separate buildings. Each of these buildings was constructed in different historical periods; one is the Museum of Ancient Iran and the other is the Museum of Archaeology and Islamic Art. The first bricks of the Museum of Ancient Iran were laid during the reign of Reza Shah. The architecture of this building is inspired by the Taq Kasra and was designed by the French architect André Godard. As its name suggests, the objects displayed in this building are relics of ancient Iran. In the seven halls of this museum, you can see pottery and decorative objects obtained from excavations, the magnificent capitals of Persepolis, the Salt Man, and hundreds of other historical artifacts. Ancient artifacts discovered after the Islamic period are displayed in this part of the National Museum, where you can observe the evolution of artifacts influenced by Islamic art.
