Khoshkehdaran National Park
This park is one of the tourist attractions of Tonekabon, located 120 meters from the sea. Khoshkehdaran is the only lowland forest in the north of the country and has gained fame due to its proximity to the sea and its beautiful view. In this pristine forest, one can see the last remnants of the northern lowland forest ecosystem. It covers about 2,600,000 square meters and various animal and plant species live together there. Among the vegetation, as one of the tourist attractions of Mazandaran, are pomegranate, wild medlar, oak, a type of hairy alder, hornbeam, velvet maple, and larch.
The animal species of this park include jackal, boar, wolf, and wildcat. Many birds live in Khoshkehdaran National Park, including teal, duck, large and small egret, goose, and cormorant. On the edge of this park, there is a natural history museum where taxidermy specimens are kept.
