Description

Machian is an area surrounded by water, like the Palrud River which encircles the entire border of the Machian region. As you know, by the law of nature, wherever there is water, there is also prosperity. History tells us that representatives of governments were always present in the Machian region during different periods.

The Palrud River (Palarud) flows near Machian, and its numerous branches pass through the village. In fact, Machian is surrounded by water, which is considered one of its prominent features.

Rice is the main agricultural product of the people in the region, and citrus fruits are among other agricultural activities of the villagers. In the late 1940s (1320s in the Iranian calendar), through the efforts of two individuals, the first school in Machian was established, which was a six-class public school. The founders of this charitable act were two people named Hojjatoleslam Seyed Abolghasem Kajidi and Masihollah Peykani. Although their motivation seemed to be primarily their own interest, the value of their work led to the beginning of a new chapter in the village of Machian.

In Machian, there is a shrine attributed to two Sayyids named Agha Seyed Morteza and Agha Seyed Ebrahim. There is no written document regarding their historical background. The general public believes that these two are descendants of Imam Musa Kazim (AS). Another opinion exists that these two are descendants of Agha Seyed Abdullah and grandchildren of Imam Sajjad (AS). These two noblemen were Alawi Sayyids who migrated from the oppressive regions of Iraq to northern Iran. They traveled from Tabarestan (Mazandaran) westward (Gilan) towards the Ashkoor region (the summer areas of Rahimabad Rudsar). On their way, Agha Seyed Morteza and Agha Seyed Ebrahim encountered the vanguard of the ruler of "Surchan," who had blocked the road for the ruler's passage to the village of "Surchan Mahalleh." They were arrested and, due to disobedience of the order forbidding ordinary people to pass during the blockade, their heads were severed and their bodies thrown into the water (Palrud River).

The bodies floated with the water to the current location of the Machian cemetery, where the local people retrieved and buried them. After the incident became known, their heads were also buried alongside their bodies, and this place became a site of respect.
