The Imam's Shrine in Rasht, commonly known as the Shrine of the Imam's Sister, is actually the tomb of "Fatemeh Akhri," the daughter of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) and sister of Imam Reza (AS). This shrine is located in the Sookhteh Tekyeh neighborhood of Rasht and is considered one of the important religious sites in this city.
The Shrine of Imam Reza's (AS) sister in Rasht is one of the significant religious places and peaceful pilgrimage sites for the general public of Gilan and Iran, and one of Gilan's pilgrimage and tourist attractions that welcomes many pilgrims every year.
"Fatemeh Akhri," attributed to the honorable sister of Imam Reza (AS), was born in the year 971 AH and passed away at the age of 24 (in 995 AH). Historical documents and evidence narrate that Fatemeh Akhri, along with her brothers Agha Seyyed Jalal al-Din Ashraf and Mir Shams al-Din (peace be upon them), migrated to Gilan and Rasht.
The four Fatimid and Razavi sisters, based on narrative and historical data, were daughters of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS) and siblings of Imam Reza (AS). Their names were Fatemeh Kubra, Fatemeh Vosta, Fatemeh Sughra, and Fatemeh Akhri, collectively known as the Four Fatimas.
Lady Masoumeh, the same Fatemeh Kubra, whose shrine is in the city, the tomb of Fatemeh Vosta is in Isfahan, and the tomb of Fatemeh Sughra is located in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Fatemeh Akhri is the last full sister of Imam Reza (AS).
It is said that Fatemeh Akhri, the last full sister of Imam Reza (AS), is famous as the Shrine of the Imam's Sister, and her tomb is a gathering place for the people of Gilan. According to historical documents, Imam Musa al-Kadhim had four daughters, and historical accounts mention the existence of oppression and tyranny by the Abbasid caliphs, the Iranian people's welcome of the descendants of the Pure Imams, especially the people of Gilan (Deylam), Iran's distance from the Abbasid caliphs, the formation of Islamic governments in some regions of Iran, meeting with Imam Reza (AS), and living under the protection of Imam Reza (AS) with security and peace, which led the Gilan province to be illuminated by a shining star named "Fatemeh Akhri."
The construction of this shrine dates back to the era of Naser al-Din Shah in 1282 AH. In that year, Mulla Hasan Ali Hasani began building a large shrine that included a courtyard, iwan, mosque, and cellar. The architectural work was completed after the death of Mulla Hasan Ali.
To visit the Shrine of the Imam's Sister in Rasht, go to the eastern side of Ostadh Motahari Street, in the Imam's Sister neighborhood. The houses and alleys around the shrine, with their traditional architecture and tiled sloping roofs, create a beautiful space beside it, which in different times of the year becomes a meeting place for lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
