Valley of the Two Sisters
In the southwest of the city of Maryanj and on the slopes of the Alvand mountain, there are lush valleys with numerous springs and streams. Among these valleys, the valleys of Dustali and the Two Sisters are more important due to the presence of many petroglyphs. In the Valley of the Two Sisters, there are several rock formations spaced apart in an area of about one square kilometer. On these rocks, images of humans and animals are engraved, and also along that valley, less than two kilometers away and on the southern side, lies the Dustali valley. In this valley, similar engravings are carved on the rocky stones. These petroglyphs date back to prehistoric times, about 20,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic period. These petroglyphs are very simple and resemble childlike drawings, often depicting humans and animals such as goats, deer, horses, and dogs. Take a location from the Two Sisters or get directions from the locals.
