Description

Imamzadeh Seyyed Hamid (peace be upon him)

According to the locals, he is one of the descendants of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon him). The locals have a strong belief in the miracles of this shrine, and during times of hardship, suffering, and illness, they visit it to seek healing. According to Rabino, it is called Pooshazdeh (Vilayats of the Borderlands of Iran, Gilan, p. 371), and this compound word comes from "Poosh" and "Zadeh," meaning someone who has been covered by something and then set on fire. Historically, it is confirmed that this place is where the jurist Hamed Ashkouri was burned by the soldiers of Seyyed Mahdi Kia. Likewise, Seyyed Zahir al-Din Marashi, who died in the 9th century AH, refers to this in his book "History of Gilan and Deylamestan" (Simaye Kuchan: 420-422). Bahr al-Uloom Gilani holds the belief that the person buried in the Pooshazdeh shrine is the jurist Hamed Ashkouri, who later was shortened to Hamed, then Hamid, and it was mistakenly thought that Seyyed Hamid was the brother of Imam Reza (peace be upon him). Therefore, the jurist Hamed Ashkouri is the same Seyyed Hamid Pooshazdeh who, for the historical reasons mentioned above, was burned in the current region and attained martyrdom. This event likely occurred in the late 8th century AH or the first decade of the 9th century AH. The author of Simaye Kuchan dates the martyrdom of jurist Hamed to the year 813 AH.

The shrine of Imamzadeh Seyyed Hamid (peace be upon him) is located in the central district of Astaneh Ashrafiyeh County, 15 kilometers north of Astaneh Ashrafiyeh, Dehestan Dehshal, village of Pooshazdeh. The building of the shrine is about 80 meters in size, and its helmet-shaped dome fascinates every viewer. It is situated on an area of ten thousand square meters, and in its courtyard, there are free-standing trees with a history of 700 years, indicating the ancient history of the shrine. Its grille is made of iron, and the entire shrine is illuminated and decorated with mirror work.
